Ozempic (semaglutide): what Indians should know
Ozempic and Wegovy are brand names for the same medicine, semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist you take as a small weekly injection. Ozempic is FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes; Wegovy is the higher-dose brand approved for chronic weight management. It works by raising insulin, slowing your stomach, and making you feel full so you eat less. It is a real prescription medicine with real side effects (nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, belly pain) and rare serious risks (pancreatitis, gallbladder, kidney, thyroid tumours in rodents). It is not a harmless slimming jab, and you should use it only under a doctor who decides your dose.
