Liraglutide is the once-daily injectable GLP-1 behind Saxenda (weight loss) and Victoza (diabetes). Unlike semaglutide and tirzepatide, liraglutide's patent has ended in several markets and Indian companies have launched non-originator versions, so a cheaper, regulator-checked option genuinely exists. But two honest catches remain: the Indian non-originator products are approved for diabetes, not weight loss, and you still need a doctor's prescription and a licensed pharmacy, because a 'biosimilar' or 'generic' is not identical to the originator and the fake online market is real.
